Why I Started North Star Precision

Over the course of my career, I've sat at nearly every table in education.

I've worked as a teaching assistant, special education teacher, ICT teacher, self-contained teacher, academic interventionist, and MTSS coordinator. I've reviewed thousands of assessment results, participated in countless student support , 504, and CSE meetings, and partnered with families navigating important educational decisions.

One thing has remained consistent throughout those experiences: families want to do what's best for their children, but the process can feel overwhelming.

Assessment reports contain unfamiliar terminology. Progress monitoring data can be difficult to interpret. School meetings often involve multiple perspectives, recommendations, and acronyms. Even when everyone is working toward the same goal, families are often left wondering:

"What does all of this actually mean for my child?"

At the same time, I began noticing another need. Many students—particularly in middle and high school—didn't necessarily need tutoring or therapy. They needed someone to help them think through challenges, develop strategies, build confidence, strengthen self-advocacy skills, and navigate the increasing demands of school.

They needed a sounding board.

Someone who could help them organize their thoughts, identify goals, solve problems, and build the habits that lead to greater independence and success.

That realization became an important part of the vision for North Star Precision.

I believe educational decisions should be informed by data, but never driven by data alone.

Numbers tell part of the story.

Understanding the student behind

those numbers is equally important.

Whether I am helping a family interpret assessment results, prepare for a school meeting, navigate intervention or special education services, or supporting a student through coaching, my goal remains the same: to help people move forward with clarity and confidence.

Every child deserves support that is thoughtful, individualized, and grounded in evidence.

Students are the North Star that guides our work. Precision ensures we stay on course.
